Jembar Lawang Villa
The impressive Villa Jembar Lawang is completely encompassed by emerald rice fields and is situated just a few minutes walk from the rugged beach at the ancient fishing village of Canggu on Bali's west coast. Built on 2,200 square meters of land, the property can sleep up to ten guests, with FIVE bedrooms and all with en-suite indoor/outdoor bathrooms.

The villa was designed by the acclaimed Balinese architect Popo Danes, who was recently honored with the 'Indonesian Institute of Architect' award for his efforts in promoting contemporary Balinese architecture in its proper way.

The style of the villa is contemporary and elegant; a group of eight or ten people can stay at the house, very comfortably, without encroaching on each others' space. It was specifically designed to maximize the wonderful panoramic views, and offers the ultimate in private luxury for those who seek tranquility combined with a high standard of service.

Jembar Lawang means "large open door or gate" in the Javanese language. It is an indirect expression for "warm welcome", which is substantiated by the antique statues of a Javanese wedding couple, waiting to welcome the guests as they step over the threshold.

Indeed, guests entering the property for the first time, as they cross over a small ornamental pond, will have no idea what to expect behind the large front door. They will be surprised when they find that the doorway leads into a magnificent, semi-circular, open living area supported by towering Romanesque columns and harmonized by a cool terracotta tiled floor.

Looking out over the flat green lawn and furnished with antique daybeds, a large dining table, and low antique retro tables, this is an ideal place for relaxing or socializing; perfect for a party, a reception or a lazy lunch. This imposing living area is the main focus of the property and is flanked on either side by corresponding two-storey wings, which accommodate the bedroom suites, the library, the entertainment room, two additional ground floor shower rooms, the kitchen and the laundry.

There are four double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, boasting spacious en-suite terrazzo bathrooms. The light and airy bedrooms also feature built-in wardrobes, chunky antique furniture, timber floors, picture windows and large sliding glass doors. One of the bedrooms has a romantic four-poster bed.

The downstairs bedrooms are each complemented by a terrace overlooking the garden, and the upstairs bedrooms each feature a large stone balcony with an attractive balustrade, furnished with daybeds and enhanced by pots of bougainvillea and stunning views of the rice fields.

Each of the en-suite bathrooms with its terrazzo fixtures, has its own distinct characteristics; some of the bathrooms are entered by stepping through beautiful old wooden doors and feature slate paved floors, bathtubs, and 'his and hers' washbasins; others feature open-air garden showers surrounded by pebbles and plants, another displays a carved white Palimanan stone frieze on the exterior wall.

The library is situated upstairs on the west wing of the property and air-conditioned.

The entertainment room, downstairs in the opposite wing of the villa, is a cozy snug where guests can relax in air-conditioned comfort with a satellite TV, DVD player, and a 'Bose' surround sound system.

Bulrush ponds border the villa, and the flat lawns of the walled garden are dotted with coconut trees, but the attractive grounds of the property are deliberately not crowded with plants and shrubs, therefore ensuring that it retains the feeling of space. An 18 x 4 meter infinity edge lap pool runs the width of the garden at the top end, sheltered by a grassy terrace. A thatched 'bale', a traditional Balinese relaxation pavilion, is situated on one side of the pool.

The spacious kitchen, where the staff will prepare a wide range of delicious meals from an innovative menu, is fully equipped with wooden fitted cupboards and a modern stainless steel hob and oven. A laundry is situated at the back of the kitchen, and other practicalities, such as the staff quarters and the garage are taken care of in the service area beside the ample car park, leaving the remainder of the house free for the guests to enjoy.

The peaceful, coastal village of Canggu is set within a beautiful agricultural region located between Kuta and Tanah Lot. The area is home to some of the most luxurious private villas on the island, and is situated forty minutes from Bali's International Airport and fifteen minutes from one of the best golf courses in Asia.

Remarkably laidback and undeveloped, this out of town setting offers the double attraction of being relatively close to everything that guests might need, while also offering visitors a privileged insight into the traditions of rural Bali. The local population make their living from fishing and farming; ducks are herded through the rice fields, the sound of gamelan music is carried on the breeze, and religious ceremonies are an integral part of daily life.

The sweeping beach is renowned for its panoramic coastline views and legendary sunsets. It has some world-class surf breaks but the currents are strong and it is dangerous for swimming. The trendy Seminyak area, a mere twenty minutes drive away, offers wide choice of international restaurants, chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant shops.

The nearby Nirwana Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman, is close to the famous Tanah Lot sea temple - one of the island's most dramatic and venerated temples, perched on a craggy wave-lashed rock just at the edge of the frothing white surf and glistening black shoreline.

Guests staying at Villa Jembar Lawang will also enjoy Hotel Tugu, situated a few minutes walk away, beside the beach at Canggu. The hotel is a living museum of priceless antiques and rare cultural artifacts, and it also offers the attractions of fine dining together with the facilities of a delightful spa.

Party Facilities At Villa Jembar Lawang

The extensive open space within the secluded garden, combined with the grandiose of the living area, makes Villa Jembar Lawang the ideal tropical setting for parties, weddings, reunion celebrations, barbeques and other functions. The sizeable modern kitchen provides the staff with the equipment and facilities to cater for a wide variety of events and a large number of guests.

Special events can also be coordinated by professional outside caterers who have the world-class expertise to prepare a sumptuous feast at the villa, in addition to the coordination of decorations, flowers, lighting, sound systems and entertainment.

A small family group can be indulged with a sizzling barbeque beside the pool at sunset. The poolside bale can be set up as an alfresco dining pavilion, guests can spill out onto the patio, and the elevated terrace behind the pool can be utilized as a stage for Balinese dance performances. Mako Villa
Mako vacation villa is a peaceful 3-bedroom retreat, complete with swimming pool, located in a quiet traditional village above a small river valley. The single-storey villa is neo-colonial in style, similar to the Dutch guesthouses of the Javanese and Malay hill stations, characterized by louvre shutters, old teak doors, and spectacular high wooden ceilings built of seasoned timbers. The eclectic interiors reflect the travels and passions of the owners, introducing Balinese and Javanese antiques, combined with a bold use of colour to create a very personal atmosphere.

Designed to maximize the natural light, and catch the cool breezes even at the hottest time of year, the property offers a blend of air-conditioned comfort and open-air tropical living. Its elevated position, meanwhile, affords beautiful open views over the pool to a jungle canopy against a backdrop of rice terraces.

The furnishings and decorations include large mirrors, armchairs, cushions and loungers that focus on comfort as well as style. There are numerous relaxation areas, together with a huge amount of covered space, so guests will always find a private spot for peace and quiet. In fact, a large family or group of people could stay at the villa and still lose each other within its depths. In addition to this, guests have the choice of three different eating areas, all of which present a unique ambience.

An advanced water filter system is used throughout the villa, raising the quality of the tap water to provide a pure drinking water source in the kitchen, with drinking water also supplied to the bathrooms and bedrooms.

There is an on-site laundry and plenty of storage space for luggage.

Entrance

Mako vacation villa is approached via a private driveway with a secure car parking area. Two Chinese welcome statues guard the entrance beside a set of double Balinese doors, which open to reveal a covered walkway with a pitched roof, ensuring that there is no danger of getting wet during the rainy season. The walkway circumvents a lotus pond complete with a bubbling water feature in its centre.

Kitchen

Unlike many vacation villas in Bali, where the kitchen is tucked away at the back of the property, the large and immaculate open kitchen at Villa Mako is a feature in itself, situated on one side of the lotus pond. Cream terrazzo work surfaces are flanked by well-stocked glass-fronted cupboards full of sparkling tableware. The kitchen is fully equipped with a sizeable refrigerator, an oven with a large gas hob, and everything else that the staff will need to create delicious meals. Wayan is an excellent cook; a menu is provided showing the dishes that she can prepare, and she is also very happy to work with other recipes and ingredients.

Breakfast area

To one side of the kitchen, overlooking the lotus pond is a breakfast area. Javanese-style glass lanterns hang from the ceiling, together with paddle fans. The circular marble-topped breakfast table is flanked by six chairs with brightly coloured yellow green and orange cushions matched by a decorative panel on the wall. A guest washroom is located next door.

Media Room

Bordering the lotus pond is a cosy media room, reminiscent of a wooden chalet, and furnished with an oversized sofa with deep cushions in gorgeous shades of green, turquoise and orange. Colourful artwork adorns the walls, and there is also a sofa-bed, a leather lazy rocking chair, a double-decker coffee table, some attractive lamps, shelf units, and a leather woven mat on the floor. The room is built around four recycled timber pillars that support the roof. Folding doors open directly on to the lotus pond, so that the pavilion appears to float. Guests can relax in air conditioned comfort or they can open the doors wide and be cooled by ceiling fans and natural breezes.

The Media room is equipped with a TV together with DVD/CD players, and dial-up Internet access. A small Vaio laptop computer has been installed for those who would rather not bring their own. The high quality sound system is linked to speakers all around the villa, or alternatively music can simply be contained within the media room. There is a connection to the amp for those who want to listen to music stored on their personal iPods or laptops.

Main Hall

The central focus of the villa is the magnificent main hall, an expansive living and dining area with folding doors on either side that open wide to allow the cool breezes to circulate. The soaring roof in this splendid pavilion is 8.5 meters high, and supports paddle ceiling fans. The hall is furnished with a formal teak dining table that comfortably seats ten and is lit by pendulous globe-shaped lanterns. Traditional Indonesian artifacts are displayed on wall shelves, while chairs and a huge daybed, complete with an abundance of cushions, is positioned around a funky coffee table. Lamp-stands in the form of wooden Javanese statues, together with a huge, crystal wall mirror, complete the picture of luxury. Folding doors composed of wood and glass open onto a sunny Batu Yogya stone terrace, which doubles the living space of the hall making it a perfect venue for parties.

Bedrooms

Each of the three air-conditioned bedrooms presents a theme; each boasts an en-suite bathroom, and each is equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, a mini-bar/fridge and safe deposit box. The two master bedrooms enjoy soaring roofs and magnificent views together with sunny balconies at the front, furnished with lazy chairs, overlooking the garden and pool. Fitted with ceiling fans, the balconies are great spots for relaxing with morning tea or afternoon cocktails.

The Bali Room is furnished with a super-king-size four-poster bed canopied with the traditional hand-woven textile known as ‘Ikat’. The room features polished teak floors and French windows with louvre shutters, which open out onto the terrace and balcony. Antique furniture, bedside tables and lamps create a romantic ambience. Timeworn stained glass doors lead into a large dressing room with a Batu Yogya stone floor, a massage bed and an abundance of cupboards with antique louvre doors. This room can also be used for nursery, and a cot can be provided. Another colonial style door leads into the expansive cream-coloured terrazzo bathroom, featuring ‘his and hers’ washbasins resting upon a terrazzo vanity unit. There is also a huge wall mirror, hanging lamps, ceiling fans, an alcoved toilet, and a powerful overhead rainshower complemented by the thoughtful provision of a handheld shower. A glass skylight in the roof allows the sunlight to stream in above a sunken sculptured terrazzo bathtub, which is big enough for two. Decorative green bamboo trunks in terrazzo pots add to the tropical feel.

On the opposite side of the terrace, double doors open into the Colonial Room with its lovely polished teak floor, and a super-king-size four-poster bed with white drapes and snakeskin cushions. A gold-framed mirror hangs on the wall and French windows with louvre shutters enhance the colonial theme. The bedroom is furnished with a desk, armchairs, and an ottoman at the end of the bed, and there is a dressing area with fitted cupboards. The en-suite bathroom is L-shaped; fixtures and furnishings include an oversized sunken sculptured terrazzo bathtub, ‘his and hers’ washbasins, a toilet hidden within an alcove, hanging lamps, a rainshower with a handheld shower, a massage bed and ceiling fans. The bathroom has an open air feel, due to the provision of glass windows in the roof, maximizing the natural light.

The Bamboo Room is accessed by double antique doors, and can be set up with two beds for younger guests or as double room. The en-suite cream terrazzo bathroom features twin washbasins, a toilet hidden within an alcove, ceiling fans, and a rainshower with a handheld shower. Glass windows in the roof maximize the natural light.

Garden & Pool

A wrought iron gate heralds the entrance to a central flight of steps leading down to the pool through an avenue of umbrella ferns. The beautiful garden then rolls down to a river located behind its boundary walls. The garden is dotted with sweet-scented frangipani and orchids, and bordered by mature trees including teak, coconut palms, and a towering breadfruit tree. On either side of the garden is a banana, palm and pandanus plantation.

Although the gate is an attractive feature in itself, this with an adjoining fence separates the main house from the pool to ensure the safety of any young children staying at the property.

The 18-metre mango-shaped swimming pool is 1.5 meters deep with a large platform area just 15 centimeters deep for kids. The cobalt-blue tiled pool is filled with light salt water instead of chlorine, and is equipped with an innovative filtering system utilizing pure water from the villa’s own bore.

The stone pool terrace is furnished with six sun loungers, table and chairs, four large Balinese parasols, and two poolside statues of Balinese gods and goddesses. On one side is a barbeque ‘bale’ pavilion, with a thatched ‘alang alang’ roof, a dining table for six, a fridge, a fan, an intercom to the house, speakers for the sound system, and a sink. A washroom is located behind the pavilion, and the staff will prepare barbeques beside the pool. Additionally, there is a poolside reading bale, fitted with bamboo blinds, a fan, and a colourful mattress and cushions.

Twelve flaming torches at night cast a stunning reflection of the Balinese parasols within the still water of the pool, turning the scene into a romantic little paradise, serenaded by a chorus of frog song.

At the bottom of the garden is a rustic brick wall with a door opening onto the river bank; here guests will find a simple and private riverside bale, perfect for meditation. This is also the site of a holy spring, where offerings to the gods are made by the local villagers. Eighty meters along the river-bank is the village temple. Guests will be welcomed at temple festivals, some may even be lucky enough to witness a barong dance or other Hindu ceremony. The villa staff will be happy to help with ceremonial clothing and advice on etiquette.

Set in 15.000 m2 land Villa Bayuh Sabbha is an exclusive private villa, a 6 bedroom peaceful retreat, comprised of nine separate buildings, with sleeping accommodation for up to fifteen persons. Situated on the Bukit Peninsula, fifty metres above sea level on the cliffs that overhang Bingin beach, the property commands heart-stopping, spectacular views of the ocean and the southern regions of Bali. ‘Bukit’ is the Indonesian word for hill and the panorama from this elevation extends all the way up the west coast past Jimbaran, the airport, Kuta and Canggu, and inland to Bedugul. On a clear day, the awesome vista takes in all of the volcanoes from Mt Agung in the east, to Mt Bromo in Java. It is in this area that a number of the more affluent members of the surfing fraternity have chosen to build their homes, ensuring that early each morning a quick glance from the bedroom window will ascertain the best waves and the destination of the day. This beautiful stretch of coast boasts some of the most idyllic beaches in Bali, hidden white sandy coves that are great for both surfers and non-surfers alike.

The property was designed by acclaimed architect Glenn Parker, and the gardens created by the famous landscape architect Made Wijaya. Complemented by flat green lawns, courtyards, terraces and a serene water garden, and lovingly furnished by its Jakarta-based owners, the villa is composed of a series of pavilions, including the main residence, two guest pavilions, dining pavilion, family pavilion, Wantilan Lounge and Bale Bundar, most of which have adjoining verandahs or terraces. This style is based on the concept of the traditional Balinese family compound with a separate building or ‘balé’ for each function, and a licence to amend the purpose of each in accordance with the comforts of modern living. The estate also boasts a fitness centre, a children’s playground, 2 swimming pools and a large tennis court.

The formal Balinese architecture makes use of local materials, such as white Palimanan stone, teak wood and limestone, together with alang alang grass for the thatched roofs. The pavilions surrounding the main residence are modelled on the conventional Balinese ‘Wantilan’ (village meeting place), but the self-contained guest area, comprising the Bale Bundar and two rotunda gazebo bedrooms with thatched conical roofs, has an African influence.
Ecologically friendly and ever vigilant about preserving water consumption in this dry region of Bali, the estate employs a cost effective, natural treatment system. Waste water from the showers and wash basins in collected, broken down, processed and recycled for use in the garden.

Two stand-alone, air-conditioned guest rooms flank the Bale Bundar. The circular theme is continued with conical roofs, and glass doors all along the 120 degree ocean facing curve of each building. Each guest pavilion, with its timber floor and en-suite bathroom, has its own distinct character created by independent furnishing styles. Primitive artworks adorn the walls, rich drapes frame the windows; rustic furniture enhances that African bungalow ambience. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, bigger than they appear from the outside, each featuring a dressing room, a marble hand-basin on a funky washstand, and an en-suite garden bathroom. The north guest pavilion offers a secret view of Dreamland beach from the circular canopied bathtub, while complete privacy is maintained by the exterior walls. Each bedroom is equipped with a satellite TV and DVD player.

Master Suite
A teak staircase leads up to the luxurious master suite. The high-ceilinged, air-conditioned bedroom adheres to the attractive theme of warm timber floors blended with fresh cream walls, hand-carved teak furniture including a large TV cabinet, and billowing white drapes canopying the four-poster king size bed. A precious feature is the large wrap-around wooden balcony accessed by glass doors in the coast-facing wall of the room. The rhythmic crashing of the waves is both thrilling and soothing. The en-suite bathroom is linked by a very spacious dressing room complete with fitted wardrobes and enhanced by an abundance of natural light. The sizeable bathroom is equally grand, featuring ‘his and hers’ washbasins and an oval bathtub housed in a timber surround.

Asam Jawa Room
The Asam Jawa (tamarind) Room is furnished with twin beds and includes an en-suite bathroom. Local artifacts have been fondly placed in curved alcoves to show them off to their best advantage, and an intricately carved antique wooden door mantel is positioned against the wall. The bedroom is equipped with satellite TV and also offer the option of a ceiling fan as an alternative to the air conditioning.

Kunyit Room
Set back from the cliff, but still offering splendid views, is the main building. The Kunyit (turmeric) Room is one of two air-conditioned bedrooms situated on the ground floor. It features a romantic four-poster bed, and sliding glass doors on the ocean side. The garden bathroom on the southern side boasts a bathtub, together with an open-air shower sheltered by a thatched roof.

Family Room
The Family Room is an open pavilion featuring wooden pillars with Palimanan stone plinths, a marble floor and a wrap around terrace. A wide set of steps flanked by a pair of stone lanterns, leads down to an 18-metre horizon pool, which is fronted by a patio area with sun-loungers and umbrellas. Additional shade is provided by two twisting frangipani trees; during the day the gnarled trees cast cool shadows, at night they appear to dance intimately on the shimmering water of the pool

Puri Alam Sari villa

Puri Alam Sari is only 15 minutes from the international airport and 5-minutes from the many world-renowned resorts, restaurants, beachside cafés and shopping districts at Jimbaran Bay, Nusa Dua and Kuta.

2 air-conditioned double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, 1 air-conditioned library/3rd double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and 1 air-conditioned guest house/children's bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

This villa is comprised of a compound of modern Balinese living pavilions with steep alang-alang thatched ceilings and paras-stone floors with water features that surround each terraced pavilion.

Behind an intricately carved-stone wall - located at the main entrance and accessed by a series of steps and a short walkway - is entry to the main living pavilion.

It is difficult not to notice the breath-taking view of the ocean beyond a 15-meter infinity edge swimming pool that seems to drift off the edge of the stone terrace.

The main living pavilion features a wooden dining setting and unique sunken 'conversation pit' that seats 8 in comfort - all with a stunning sunset backdrop to the horizon.

The air-conditioned master bedroom is accessed via another set of steps across a lotus pond off the main living pavilion. It features a large 4-poster bed with walk-through dressing room and a separate en-suite with outside shower and a large bathtub that is set against a clear glass wall that offers tranquil scenes of the water features behind it.

A second pavilion houses another air-conditioned bedroom - similar in features to the master bedroom - with it's own en-suite against a glass wall with views of the adjacent lily ponds and an outside Jacuzzi style spa. Of course…the spa features more magnificent views of the ocean and beyond.

A fourth pavilion has 2 single bedrooms with shared en-suite bathroom and outside shower.

It should be noted that this extraordinary villa not only offers stunning scenic views of the ocean and picturesque views - in-land - of the many volcano summits by day, but twinkling colourful vistas of the city lights by night.
